Having already met in London, Rotterdam and barcelona, the fourth and final annual workshop of the Hybrid User Forum will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden on 13-14 May, bringing together forum members from across Europe.
And the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership in the UK has just published their Low Carbon Bus Technology Roadmap report. Read it here.
A report was recently published that could be of interest to hybrid bus users:Â Urban buses – alternative powertrains for Europe. It is a fact-based analysis of the role of diesel hybrid, hydrogen fuel cell, trolley and battery electric powertrains. The report is here.
Hosted by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), the Hybrid User Forum held its third annual bus section workshop in Barcelona last week. Apart from a tour of the Horta bus depot, the group provided updates on their own activities and discussed the future of hybrid technology. Workshop presentations are available here.
The next – and third – Hybrid User Forum workshop will take place in Barcelona, Spain on 6 June 2013. Barcelona has a very ambitious transport strategy that goes far beyond just the vehicles. In addition, they have a fleet of serial hybrids in operation and they have retrofitted 70 conventional diesel buses (Siemens system with ultracapacitors) to hybrids.
The Transport for London Board recently approved an order for 600 new hybrid buses for London. The buses will start to appear on the roads over the coming four years. This is the largest order of hybrids ever placed in Europe. Read the media release from Transport for London.
The workshop of the Hybrid User Forum truck section scheduled for Hannover, Germany has been cancelled due to low participation. Work on the Hybrid User Forum bus section continues as planned.
